Sketch

Today I'm sharing with you a sketch we've made with a group of students. We had a really good time and we laughed a lot and they felt so free and happy doing this activity. The students are: Grisel, Mauro, Leandro and Bruno.

Let's write together

Hello everybody!!!! I'm back here posting a nice job we've made with my students. They wrote their own conversation "First day at school" in which they pretend to be at school in their first day after the summer holidays and they tell each other what they did during that period. Once they've finished writing the conversation I recorded them with my mobile phone and this is the result:

P.S.: Believe me that we had great fun doing this activity.

Students' Corner

Today we are opening a new section “The Student’s Corner”. Here we are going to post some of our students’ class work and different activities that we believe are worth sharing with you. If you want to post something, if you have some ideas and you want to share them with us just leave a comment here or send us an e-mail with the material you want to post and we’ll be glad to upload your contributions. Our e-mail address is oxfordinstitutesl@hotmail.com

The first post on this section is a story written by a group of students at the beginner level.

While I was preparing the lesson I started thinking about different activities to introduce and practise the present simple but not the common activities we are used to doing, I wanted something different. And then this idea came to my mind. I thought:” What about writing a story in the present?” But then as I was planning how to do the activity I became aware of the fact that this group of students had a very tiny vocabulary since they have already started learning English this year. And finally after thinking about this matter I said ok I’ll solve this by teaching them how to use the dictionary and it was fantastic. They really loved this activity because they knew they were producing new language, they were learning new things and the most important point, they knew their production was going to be shown in our blog. This is extremely good when we manage to encourage our students to learn new topics with such simple activities in which you just need some markers a board and of course something that all of us have: a pen and a sheet of paper.I asked my students to write a story based on the storyboard below

And this is the result.
